Danada Equestrian Center Programs

Enrollment forms have been revised. Please utilize the appropriate enrollment form for the program that you wish to enroll in.

Lessons

A variety of programs are offered, including Introduction to Horsemanship I and II and Horsemanship III through V. Our riding programs require only that you be at least 12 years of age and have a desire to leam about horses and their care. No prior experience or knowledge is expected; however, keep in mind that riding is a physical activity.

The lesson programs at Danada are extremely popular. If enrollment demand exceeds program capacities we utilize a lottery system to ensure a fair placement of applicants in classes.

Trail Rides

Trail rides are conducted on trails through the Danada and Herrick Lake forest preserves. Trail riders must purchase a package of six trail rides to be used at their convenience within one year of the date of purchase.

Prerequisite for enrollment is satisfactory completion of Introduction to Horsemanship I or successful completion of a placement exam.

Summer Camp

This week-long summer camp offers children ages 10 -14 an opportunity to enjoy a hands-on experience with the horses at Danada Equestrian Center. We offer two well-rounded programs that introduce children to the day-to-day activities and experiences of a working stable and developing safe riding skills.

Group Tours

The Danada Equestrian Center staff offers groups and organizations of all ages the opportunity to take a one-hour tour of the equestrian center facilities.

Seminars

The Danada Equestrian Center is excited to introduce this new seminar program, which will explore horsemanship from a variety of angles. We invite the public to come and watch as local riders improve their riding and handling skills as well as their knowledge of horses.

Placement Exams

Placement exams are mandatory for all applicants who wish to bypass a program level for participation in a higher skill level of Horsemanship classes. ALSO: Placement exams are mandatory for returning students who have not participated in Danada Equestrian Center riding programs during the previous 10 months.

Hay & Sleigh Rides

The Danada Equestrian Center offers horse-drawn hayrides and sleigh rides through the Danada Forest Preserve. Come and relax and enjoy a 3O-minute, horse-drawn hayride through the fields and woodlands while the teamster relates information about the unique features and history of this preserve.
