Students who enroll in Horsemanship V must receive approval from a Danada instructor before participating in this level. Students who enroll in Horsemanship V will continue to practice the techniques introduced in Introduction to Horsemanship I and II and Horsemanship III and IV. Exercises will be conducted that improve a students balance and coordination on the horse, as well as enhance his or her communication with the horse.
Horsemanship V consists of a six-week-long session, with classes meeting once per week for one hour. Students must arrive early to groom and tack up their assigned horse. For your scheduling convenience, four sessions are offered each year. Classes are comprised of a group of six students. Students must be at least 12 years of age to participate.
If enrollment demand exceeds program capacities we utilize a lottery system to ensure a fair placement of applicants in classes.

The following is a summary of the program's educational intent and performance standards that will be used for graduation and placement determination.
EDUCATIONAL INTENT
During this program, students will refine all previous level skills as well as develop the following skills:
- Work without stirrups at the walk, trot and canter.
- Ride proficient canter transitions on the correct lead.
- Ride the canter in a balanced three-point position.
- Ride smooth transitions between canter and trot.
- Perform arena figures at the canter.
- Work over cavelletti at the walk, trot and canter.
- Perform bending exercises and elementary lateral movements.
- Lunge a horse safely and correctly.
- Learn theory behind exercises to improve the horse's balance and gaits.

Enrollment subject to approval by instructors.
Make-up lessons will not be available for Horsemanship III through V. Trail rides will be offered in place of missed lessons.
