2011 Horsemanship V

Information and Schedules --
Horsemanship V is open to individuals who have approval of Danada instructors or who have successfully completed the placement examination. Exercises will be conducted that improve the student's balance and coordination on the horse, as well as enhance his or her communication with the horse. Horsemanship V consists of a six-week session, with lessons meeting once per week for one hour. Lessons are comprised of a group of six students. Students must be at least 12 years of age to participate. STUDENTS MUST ARRIVE EARLY TO GROOM AND TACK-UP THEIR ASSIGNED HORSE.
EDUCATIONAL INTENT
Refine ALL previous level skills, as well as develop the following skills:
Work without stirrups at the walk, trot, and canter.
Ride proficient canter transitions on the correct lead.
Ride the canter in a balanced three-point position.
Ride smooth transitions between canter and trot.
Perform arena figures at the canter.
Work over cavaletti at the walk, trot, and canter.
Perform bending exercises and elementary lateral movements.
Lunge a horse safely and correctly.
Learn theory of exercises to improve the horse's balance and gaits.
