Introduction to Horsemanship II is an extension of our basic program. It offers participants an opportunity to improve their horsemanship training with continued hands-on practice in addition to attaining a more proficient level of riding and stable management skills.
Horsemanship II is open to students who have successfully performed the educational intent listed for Horsemanship I or individuals who have successfully completed the Placement Examination. The program consists of a six-week session, with classes meeting once per week for two hours. For your scheduling convenience, three to four lesson times are offered each session.
Classes consist of a group of six students. Students must be at least 12 years of age to participate. During each class, students will be assigned a horse and will be responsible for preparing the horse for riding by grooming, saddling and bridling it. A portion of each class will consist of lectures and stable management practices, as well as mounted instruction.
This program may be repeated several times until the requirements for enrollment in Horsemanship III are met. The following outline summarizes the educational intent of this program. These goals will also be utilized as performance standards for graduation and to determine placement in a more advanced level.
If enrollment demand exceeds program capacities we utilize a lottery system to ensure a fair placement of applicants in classes.
